ICNF seizes 70 illegally caught sea cucumbers and returns them to the Ria Formosa

Illegal fishermen fled upon seeing Nature's watchers

Seventy sea cucumbers (sea cucumbers), illegally fished, were seized and returned to Ria Formosa by the Nature Watchers of the Institute for the Conservation of Nature and Forests (ICNF).

The apprehension took place at Praia de Faro. The offenders were not caught or identified, "for having fled" as soon as they saw the boat of the Nature Watchers, reveals the Regional Directorate of Nature Conservation and Forests of the Algarve in a press release.

The animals, which were still alive, «were returned to their natural environment», the waters of the Ria Formosa Natural Park.
