The doors of the LAC-Laboratory of Creative Activities and the studios of various artists, in Lagos, will be open to anyone who wants to visit them on Friday and Saturday, the 17th and 18th of January.
The 18th edition of LAC Dia Aberto is there to make the public aware of the association's dynamics and the work developed by the artists in residence at the LAC headquarters. Entry and participation in all scheduled activities is free.
Over the course of two days, the public is invited “to visit the artists' workshops and learn about the projects they develop”.
In practice, this means that the public will have the opportunity to walk through the corridors of the former prison in Lagos, where LAC is located, to visit the cells/studios where the 11 plastic artists and the eight resident musicians work.
"We are going to present LAC, in order to make the city and those who visit us known about the work that the plastic artists and musicians have done over the last year and make their work space known", he revealed to Sul Informação Nuno Pereira, president of the lacobrigense cultural association.
Those who visit LAC on Friday and Saturday will also be able to enjoy «a vast program that includes exhibitions, puppet shows, concerts, performances, workshops and open classes in the most varied areas of artistic expression».
Basically, it is about making known to the general public «the dynamics of the association».
LAC – Open Day 2020 is one of the three moments of the LAC Open Days, an event financed by the 4th edition of the cultural program “365Algarve”.
On the 25th, a new session of the Street Lab Art, an initiative that «consists of a guided tour of the city, to show emblematic works of urban art, in the morning, and a workshop on urban art, in the afternoon».
In the coming months, four more sessions of these visits will take place, on the 29th of February, the 28th of March, the 18th of April and the 30th of May.
The third pillar of LAC Open Days is the event Village Art Experience, «a guided tour of the works that resulted from the project "Watt?", which LAC promoted in 2016», according to Nuno Pereira.
«We will go to five of the locations that were intervened by the seven artists who participated in the project», namely Xana, Jorge Pereira, Mariana a Miserável, Padure, Susana Gaudêncio, Menau and Tiago Batista.
In this case, there are visits scheduled for the 7th of March, 4th of April and 16th of May.
