Dam of Foupana «it is consensual» and «it is to advance»

Mayors will mandate Águas do Algarve to proceed with the studies and projects necessary for the advancement of this dam

“What is consensual is to move forward”. It was in this way that António Miguel Pina, president of the Intermunicipal Community of the Algarve (AMAL), summarized the Sul Informação the position of the 16 presidents of the Algarve in relation to the Foupana Dam, which is really for build yourself, despite the critical voices emerging from civil society.

The 16 Algarve Councils only hold 49% of the capital of Águas do Algarve – the remaining 51% belong to the Central State -, a company that should be responsible for the eventual construction of another dam, but António Pina is confident that the minister of Ambiente will give the green light to the project, as it “has never shown any objections”.

Listen to the answer given by the AMAL president to those who ask for greater reflection on the construction of new dams in the Algarve and learn more about how the mayors intend to face the problems related to the «increasingly structural» water scarcity, in this interview on video that the Sul Informação made to António Pina.
