Silves' project that promotes digital literacy for seniors is part of the BAD website

Training allows trainees to acquire basic knowledge in word processing, email and internet

PTIS@Literacia Digital, Information Technologies Project for Seniors, promoted by the Municipality of Silves, through the Municipal Library, was one of the projects selected by the Portuguese Association of Librarians, Archivists and Documentalists (BAD) to integrate a Web Site, about the contribution of libraries to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda.

This initiative, which began in 2018 and is aimed in particular at the senior public, aims to combat the digital exclusion of the elderly, providing them, through a process of teaching and learning, with skills in digital literacy and information literacy.

Thus, it allows trainees to acquire basic knowledge in word processing, email and internet, using the computer and the internet in a safe way.

Among the 17 goals and 169 goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, the PTIS project achieves the goals of Quality Education, Gender Equality and Reduction of Inequalities.
