Southern Choir and Classical Orchestra join for New Year's concert

The Orquestra Clássica do Sul (OCS) will join its Choir for a concert, on January 4th, at the Grande Auditório da Culturgest, in Lisbon.

This will be the first time that the Orchestra and the Choir perform together in this concert hall.

“The New Year is synonymous with a very special debut. Created in January 2019, the Orquestra Clássica do Sul Choir was a daring challenge that further streamlined the cultural panorama of the south of the country and proved to live up to the expectations outlined”, begins by saying the Orquestra Clássica do Sul.

Coordinated by the baritone Rui Baeta, this mixed choir has around sixty voices and allows the orchestra to diversify its repertoire.

“From London to Venice” is the name of the New Year's concert that will take place on January 4th. Rui Pinheiro, OCS principal conductor, is responsible for the orchestral direction of a concert that will have Paulina Sá Machado (soprano) and Marta Magalhães (mezzo-soprano) as guests.

The program features “Water Music – Suite No. 2” by Georg Haendel, “Glória in D major” by Antonio Vivaldi and “Symphony No. 104” by Joseph Haydn.

Tickets for the New Year's concert “From London to Venice” cost 15 euros (subject to discounts) and can be purchased at the Culturgest ticket office in online ticket office or reserved by calling 217 905 155.

 

NOTE: : Fixed at 20:35 pm. This will be, yes, the first time that the Orquestra Clássica do Sul and its Choir perform together, but at Culturgest. Previously, there have been shows in which Orchestra and Choir shared the same stage.
