The Versus Tuna – Academic Tuna of the University of the Algarve will, on the 28th at night, between 19 pm and midnight, «go to all the women's residences of the University of the Algarve», to «try to win the hearts of the maidens who reside there, promising a night full of love, music and continuity of what is the first traditions of our academy».
These Serenades to the Academy intend to celebrate «the first apparition of the Versus Tuna», on the night of November 28, 1991, when, «still without the academic attire of the University of the Algarve», a group of students «presented all the maidens who resided in the Women's Residence at the Penha Campus with a serenade».
Now, 28 years later, there are more female residences, so the current members of Versus Tuna will have much more than singing and playing.
«We want, year after year, [this event] to assert itself more and more as a cultural and defining moment for the student community» and that it also be «an event for the people of the City of Faro», stresses Filipe Pinto, magister tvnae.
