International ranking once again highlights the University of the Algarve

In a total of 720 institutions from all over the world, UAlg ranks among the 301-400 positions in the area of ​​Social Sciences

The University of Algarve (UAlg) was once again well positioned in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject 2020, integrating, for the first time, the lists of the best in the world in Social Sciences and in Management and Economics in this ranking.

Out of a total of 720 institutions from all over the world, UAlg ranks among the 301-400 positions in the area of ​​Social Sciences.

Also in the area of ​​Management and Economics, of the 632 universities that made up the Ranking worldwide, UAlg is placed between the positions 401-500.

Social Sciences include the areas of Communication and Media, Politics and International Studies, Sociology and Geography. Management and Economics encompasses the areas of Management, Economics, Accounting and Finance.

The criteria for inclusion in these rankings are to reach the minimum limit of 200 publications in the last five years in these areas and its faculty to reach the minimum limit of 4% of the total for the area of ​​Social Sciences and 5% for the area of ​​Management and Economics .

According to UAlg, «the results obtained result, to a large extent,» from the activity that the Algarve academy «has developed in the scope of undergraduate, masters and doctoral courses in these two scientific areas».

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject is based on a set of research indicators, productivity, reputation and impact, teaching and learning environment, innovation and knowledge transfer and internationalization.
