The installation of 10 bicycle parking stations in Quarteira started this week, thus implementing yet another measure within the scope of the Quarteira Lab project.
The parking lots for bicycles will be created in the intervention area of this project, which comprises Avenida Carlos Mota Pinto and Francisco Sá Carneiro (between the Rotunda do Polvo and the Rotunda do Rodoviário Terminal), in an initiative co-financed by the Environmental Fund of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Action.
With the installation of this solution, the municipality will “increase the number of parking spaces in this sustainable means of transport, allowing for a better organization of public space, ensuring better mobility, better ordering and more safety for bicycle users”.
The Loulé City Council, which promotes the work, says it intends to “foster the decarbonization of the city of Quarteira through the installation of solutions that allow the reduction of the use of polluting vehicles and, consequently, the emission of greenhouse gases, contributing to the increase of air quality and for the creation of a more sustainable and inclusive urban space, improving the quality of life of citizens, which is one of the main objectives of this project».
