The Municipality of Olhão invested 25 thousand euros in physical education material for the 113 groups/classes of the pre-school and 1st cycle teaching establishments in the municipality.
«Encouraging the participation of children from the State of Olhão in activities that promote a healthier lifestyle, contrary to sedentary habits, is one of the autarchy's intentions. This is already the second phase of a process that started during the last academic year», describes the Chamber of Olhão.
According to António Pina, the mayor of Olhão, this investment goes “to meet the needs of each school, taking into account the existing material, making it uniform”.
"This is another demonstration of the importance we give to education and children in our municipality," added the mayor.
The equipping of the schools in Olhão "also took into account the needs required to carry out the physical education assessment test for the 2nd year", reinforced the Chamber of Olhão, in a press release.
Among the acquired material are items such as «Motricity module blocks, plinths, bows, bats, rugby balls and belts, resistance elastics, Swedish seats, net bags, foam tennis balls, guidance kits, soccer balls , tennis rackets or tennis balls, among others'.
With this purpose in mind, physical education classes are also promoted, held weekly as a coadjuvant, between sports professionals in the Municipality of Olhão and educators and teachers in the 113 groups/class of Pre-School and 1st Cycle throughout the municipality. .
