Show “For Those Who Walk on the Waters of the Sea” goes to Alvor

Documentary theater piece is inspired by Raul Brandão's “Os Pescadores”

The show “Pelos Que Andam Sobre as Águas do Mar”, inspired by Raul Brandão's “Os Pescadores”, will be staged at the Alvor Community Center on November 19, at 19:30 pm.

This theater-documentary play by Raquel Belchior (Galateia), which will feature the special participation of the women's choir from the Centro Comunitário de Alvor, is the result of research carried out in the fishing communities of Portimão, Nazaré, Sesimbra, Setúbal and Montijo, and in Vanessa Amorim's anthropological investigation.

The Portimão Museum is one of the partners in this project, which has the participation of actresses Ana Lúcia Palminha and Suzana Branco and is staged by Miguel Jesus.

Admission to the show is free, but reservation is mandatory, which can be made through the telephone numbers 282405230 and 282459326 or by emailing [email protected] and [email protected].

Two days before the show, on the 17th of November, at 16 pm, the book “Pelos que walk over the waters of the sea – Notes of an artistic and anthropological process” will be presented at the old auction in Alvor.

«This book had the collaboration of the Portimão Museum. Contrary to the ephemeral nature of theatre, this book records the process of artistic and anthropological research carried out in the fishing communities of Nazaré, Sesimbra, Setúbal, Montijo and Alvor. By collecting the testimonies of the various people interviewed and the experiences of the team during the artistic residencies in these places, we intend to contribute to the consolidation of a collective heritage linked to maritime and fishing experience», according to the Câmara de Portimão.
