Erasmus+ and Ria Formosa take students from Olhão to Greece

Students from the Dr. Francisco Fernandes Lopes Schools group went to Greece to present a study on the Ria Formosa

Students from the Dr. Francisco Fernandes Lopes School Group, from Olhão, spent a week in Argostoli, on the island of Kefalonia, Greece, in another mobility action of the Erasmus+ project “Human Impacts @ Coastal Ecosystems”.

Beatriz Barôa, Luana Barbosa and Mariana Teixeira, 11th grade students, participated in this action, whose central theme was “Study of the marine ecosystems of the Ionian Sea”, and presented a study carried out within the scope of regulatory services for the Ria Formosa ecosystem.

The trip also served to get to know the local natural wealth, namely a species of turtle that nests on this island and is threatened by human presence, but also to participate in environmental awareness initiatives, as «an active citizenship activity reducing human impact in the limits of the Livadi Natural Park, which is the most important wetland for the natural environment of Kefalonia».

On the way, the three students, as well as professors Emanuel Bettencourt and Óscar Ribeiro and the director of the group Idalécio Nicolau, who accompanied them, «experienced with the Greek culture, its customs and gastronomy», according to the group from Olhano.
