This afternoon, Farense received and beat Leixões, by 1-0, and rose to second place, in the II Liga, on equal points with the leader, Sporting da Covilhã.

The Algarve team was the first to create real danger, on 15 minutes, when Fabrício, after a pass from Mayambela, fired centimeters from the post.

Despite Farense's greater ascendancy at the start of the match, Leixões reacted and, at 25 minutes, came close to opening the scoring. Derick, after a cross from the right, appeared on Matheus' back and fired into the side nets.

In the second half, Farense intensified the pressure and, in the 56th minute, came close to scoring on two occasions. First, Fábio Nunes, in a good position, lost time in the area and allowed Bura to cut and then, following the corner, Filipe Melo hit the bar.

At 59, it was Ryan Gauld who came close to scoring in a shot that Ivo Gonçalves prevented from being a goal, with a great save.

Leixões had their best opportunity to score on the 66th minute, when André Claro, on the back line, assisted Enoh, in the small area, but the amendment went out of the way.

The Algarvians' winning goal came in the 74th minute, from set pieces. Ryan Gauld took the corner and Cássio, freed from marking, headed into the back of the net.

In advantage, Farense knew how to control the final minutes and won an important victory that puts them, for now, in the rising places, with 18 points, the same as Sporting da Covilhã, which has one game less.
