French Film Festival brings previews and lots of humor Portimão

Seven films will be shown over three days

Films from France, some of them previewed, will invade the Algarcine de Portimão cinemas between the 5th and 7th of November, in another passage of the French Film Party through the Algarve.

Over three days, the public will come into contact with «the vitality and diversity of French production or co-production in different genres, as well as the re-encounter with films that are part of the world's cinematographic heritage», most of them comedies, according to the Câmara de Portimão .

The 20th edition of this party, under the theme “À grande e à Francesa”, started on October 3rd and will last until November 8th. During this period, it will pass in eight locations from North to South of the country.

In Portimão, which this time is the only council in the Algarve hosting the event, the extension of the festival begins on the 5th, at 21 pm, with the screening of the comedy “Comme des Garçons”, by Julien Hallard, which «tells the story of a sports journalist who, one day, decides to organize a game of football between women'.

“Unknowingly, he will be involved in the creation of the first French team in the women's sport”, explains the Chamber.

The following day, at 10:30 am, the film “Le Voyage du Prince”, by Jean-François Laguionie, will be screened at Cinema Algarcine by businessman and enthusiast of the seventh art Carlos Matos, in a session aimed at school audiences.

«This animation tells of an old prince who is shipwrecked and goes to an unknown beach. Wounded and lost, he ends up being saved by a young man named Tom», described the municipality.

Also on the 6th, but at 19 pm, the film “Première Année”, by Thomas Litli is shown, «a drama that tells the story of two colleagues from the Medicine course who end up becoming friends, helping each other in exams more and more difficult'.

Then comes the comedy “Les Crevettes Pailletées”, by Cédric LeGallo and Maxime Govare. «The plot focuses on Matthias le Goff, world runner-up in swimming, who will have to face prejudice and train a team for the Gay Games», according to Câmara de Portimão.

On the 7th, three more sessions, the first of which was also aimed at students from schools in the municipality. This time, the film “Belle et Sébastien 3”, by Clovis Cornillac, will be screened, “which talks about the adventures of young Sébastien and his dog Belle”.

The 19:00 session will show the dramatic comedy “Lola et ses Frères”, directed by Jean-Paul Rouve, “about the adventures of Lola, the two brothers (Pierre and Benoit) and the marriage of one of them”.

The program ends at 21 pm with “Alice et le Maire”, by Nicolas Pariser, a “dramatic comedy that addresses the reality of Paul Théraneau, mayor of Lyon who is going through an existential crisis, until he meets a young philosopher who becomes his advisor – Alice Heimann».

Tickets for the sessions cost 3,50 or 3 euros, a value that drops to 2 euros for students and members of Alliance Française, with all films being subtitled in Portuguese. School sessions are free and reservations must be made by calling 289 828 881 or [email protected].

The French Film Festival is organized by the Institut Français du Portugal, the French Embassy and Serena Productions, in partnership with the Cinemateca Portuguesa, the Alliances Françaises network, Uni France Films and the Municipal Councils of Lisbon, Almada, Coimbra, Porto, Leiria, Setúbal, Beja and Portimão.
