The Chamber of Faro will invest 670 thousand euros in requalification works on the EM 520-2, between Estoi and Santa Bárbara de Nexe, and on the EM 522, a road that leaves the city and passes through the Rio Seco and Bela Curral, before the border with the municipality of Olhão (Pechao).

Contracts for the execution of the two interventions were signed yesterday between the municipality and the José de Sousa Barra & Filhos Society and will improve circulation conditions «on two of the most important routes located in the city's border areas», according to the Faro municipality.

The work "is already starting".

In the case of the works on the road linking Estoi to Santa Bárbara, which will cost around 370 thousand euros, the main objectives are «the repair of breaks in the pavement in specific areas, the paving of the road in bituminous concrete and the execution of concrete ditches for the drainage of water, as well as the execution of speed-reducing humps above the asphalt and cleaning of the berms'.

In the intervention to requalify the EM 522, between the city and the air bridge over the EN 125 (Rio Seco) and between the end of this bridge and the municipality limit (between Bela Curral and Pechão), the objectives are «the rehabilitation of the road pavement and the construction of concrete ditches to drain water, as well as the construction of speed-reducing humps in bituminous material and the punctual paving of the berms, in order to facilitate the movement of pedestrians». The work will cost close to 303 thousand euros.

«Foreseeing some traffic constraints, the Municipality of Faro recommends to all who circulate in the areas covered the greatest prudence and scrupulous compliance with the indications posted in each location», appealed the Farense City Council.
