Faro gives 2500 euros to help RIAS recover wild animals

The Chamber of Faro will provide 2500 euros support to RIAS – Ria Formosa Wildlife Recovery and Research Center.

The municipality of Faro approved in a Chamber meeting the attribution of this aid to this center, «which works as a “wild fauna hospital”», associating itself «to the meritorious work» carried out by the RIAS.

«This institution develops several actions such as the reception and treatment of wild animals of protected species, the referral of the collected animals, the return of suitable specimens to their natural habitat, the management of the collected information and its sending to the coordination of the National Network of Fauna Collection and Recovery (RNCRF), carrying out environmental education, nature conservation and knowledge sharing actions, among others of recognized merit», according to the Chamber of Faro.

This is a “fundamental support to guarantee the continuity of the services provided and so that the assistance continues to be provided with the desired quality”.

«Associated with research and environmental education and awareness of the community, in particular the younger generations, this is a work that could have a global impact on the conservation of populations and species of wild animals, not only in the Ria Formosa, but throughout the region. country», concludes the Farense Chamber.
