White card will reward fairplay gestures at the Algarve Football Association matches

Initiative already exists in other associations in the country

The football and futsal games of the Algarve Football Association (AFA) will now have a great novelty: the attribution of a white card to those who have high attitudes and behaviors. fair play.

The White Card is an initiative of the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ), through the National Plan for Ethics in Sport, joining the Confederation of Associations of Judges and Referees of Portugal and Coca-Cola, which already exists in other associations of football in the country, but which, now, will also be in force in the Algarve.

The ceremony for the implementation of the White Card, moreover, will take place this Friday, the 18th, from 21 pm, in the auditorium of the headquarters of the Football Association of the Algarve, in Faro.

The idea is to recognize, highlight and reward ethically relevant attitudes and behaviors practiced by sports agents.

In the opinion of the AFA, this is, therefore, a "significant step in the region to promote the importance of a positive attitude in football, futsal and all sports".

Like the yellow or red ones, this will be a card shown by the referee of the matches, but it has, above all, a symbolic character.

In this ceremony tomorrow, the #Deixajogar initiative will also be presented, recently launched by the Portuguese Football Federation, whose objective is to combat episodes of bad behavior in the stands and raise awareness among parents and the general public about their harmful effects and, at the same time, promoting and rewarding good examples of fair play and positive stories.

The event will be attended by referees from the Algarve, sports agents, young athletes and guardians and is open to the general public.
