Marine beauties invade Fort Ponta da Bandeira

Exhibition by ceramists Tara and Sylvain Bongard shows the «endless originality and surprising beauty» of marine beings

An exhibition of ceramic stoneware sculptures that evoke the marine world and its symbiosis with human beings by artists Tara and Sylvain Bongard can be seen from Saturday, 31st, until December 28th, at Forte Ponta da Bandeira, in Lakes.

The exhibition “Século dos Mares” is the culmination of years of work by the couple of potters residing in Ferragudo Tara and Sylvain Bongard and «intends to explore the union between the human being and the seas in the various representations of the marine world, a millenary connection that goes beyond the timelessness of a military fort such as Fort Ponta da Bandeira, established as a bastion of defense of the oceans», according to the Câmara de Lagos.

«The ceramic stoneware sculptures aim to highlight the endless originality and surprising beauty of these marine beings, many of them on the brink of massive extinction, while also aiming to alert current generations to the inevitable reflection on the imminent threat of pollution on the environment”, added the municipality.

The exhibition can be seen from Tuesday to Sunday, between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm and from 14:00 pm to 17:00 pm.
