The men's team from the Clube de Petanca de Loulé and the women's team from the Associação de Pétanca Vale da Telha, from Aljezur, won the Algarve Cup in Petanca, which was played on Sunday in the riverside area of Portimão and broke the record at the level of number of participating athletes.
In men's, he won the triple from Loulé composed by Valério Brito, José Brito and Nelson Pereira. In Women, the cup was collected by the duo Laura Manhãs and Tânia Malta.
On the same day, the Cidade de Portimão Cup was disputed, which was won by the triple José Rosa, Carlos Duarte and José Guerreiro, from Clube Desportivo and Recreativo Quarteirense, in men, and by Sónia Gonçalves and Natércia Cruz, from Clube Petanca Escola de Loulé, in the ladies.
The competition was promoted by the Portuguese Federation of Petanca within the scope of “Portimão – European City of Sport 2019” and had the participation of 214 athletes, 192 men representing 64 teams from 27 clubs and 22 women from 11 teams from seven clubs.
With 42 teams from 15 clubs, Associação do Barlavento Algarvio and Sudoeste Alentejano had the most participants, followed by Associação do Algarve with 17 teams from seven clubs and Associations from the North and Center Zones, both with eight teams from six clubs.
