There are very different activities for different tastes, but they have in common the fact that they involve close contact with nature. The first edition of Algarve Nature Fest will take place on the 21st and 22nd of September, in the riverside area of Olhão, and the complete program is already known.
In this event, which replaced the Algarve Nature Week – which took place in spring and had a broader format -, visitors can count on experiences such as hiking, boating, birdwatching, diving and sailing, stand up paddle and mountain biking .
Under the motto "Treat nature for you", the initiative will feature "dozens of experiences at sea, in the estuary or on land for adults and children, all free, some with mandatory prior registration", according to the Algarve Tourism Region (RTA), which organizes the event in partnership with the Chamber of Olhão.
In addition to the main program, there is also a set of complementary activities for everyone who visits the animation and exhibition area, which will be installed on the Passeio Ribeirinho de Olhão.
The Algarve Nature Fest was designed to «promote the region's natural charms, but also to make participants aware of the importance of protecting and conserving the biological and landscape diversity of the Algarve region».
With this objective in mind, on the 21st, a Saturday morning, there will be an initiative in the producers' market of the Municipal Market of Olhão to call for a reduction in the use of plastic, through the offer of reusable shopping bags to visitors.
Highlight also to the promotional video of the event, which will feature well-known personalities, namely Nuno Markl, Vasco Palmeirim and Joana Schenker, who are leading a «humorous adventure through the nature of the Algarve».
«The Algarve Nature Fest is part of a set of projects that RTA has been organizing and supporting in recent years, in order to affirm the region in other areas of interest, to change consumption profiles and distribute demand throughout the year and the territory. This is a clear bet on the nature tourism product for those who want to enjoy peaceful contact with the natural world of the Algarve», summarized João Fernandes, president of the Algarve Tourism Region.
