Silvense who fought in World War I arrive at Armação de Pêra

Exhibition will take place in different parishes of Silves

The Armação de Pêra casino will host, until the 31st, the exhibition that will show the natives who participated in the First World War, as members of the Portuguese Expeditionary Corps (CEP), and the luck they had in this conflict.

In addition to a list divided by the different parishes of the municipality, which includes the name of the combatant, rank and service that he performed, the exhibition “The Combatants of the Municipality of Silves in World War I” also reveals “the date of embarkation and disembarkation in Lisbon and observations, such as whether he received commendations, whether he was medaled and decorated, whether he was wounded, whether he participated in the Battle of La Lys and even died in combat», according to the Chamber of Silves.

This is an itinerant exhibition that has already been held in Pêra, São Marcos da Serra and Alcantarilha and will reach other parishes in the county throughout this year. During the month of August, the exhibition will be on display at the Paços do Concelho building, in Silves.
