CDS women debated domestic violence and its victims

Funds raised reverted to CASA

Domestic violence and its victims were the theme of the CDS Algarve Women's Conference, which took place on 12 July in Albufeira.

The conference is a project created by the presidents of the Municipalities of Olhão and Loulé, Ana Paula Artur and Isilda Guerreiro, respectively. It also had the collaboration of the municipalities of the CDS of Albufeira, in the person of its president Mónica Ferreira, and of the Municipality of Faro, with the participation of Lígia Santos.

The session, which was attended by João Rebelo, head of the list of CDS for the Algarve in the next Legislative Elections, brought together activists, party sympathizers and community members, bringing together a group of speakers from various areas who gave their voices. contribution to the theme, namely, psychologists Ana Miranda and Ana Filipa Augusto, Cristina Miguel, «a lawyer with extensive experience in the subject», and also Lieutenant Colonel Victor Calado, who «provided his contribution through his vast experience as an agent of authority ».

This event, which addressed the theme «with a different view from the usual, with reference to the various types of violence and victims, also had the social component, usual in these conferences of the Women of the CDS Algarve».

For this, a fundraising was carried out through the contribution of part of the payment for the dinner of the guests. The Albufeira Delegation of the CASA association (Support Center for the Homeless) was chosen to receive this contribution, which «deals daily with this theme in the area of ​​his intervention, because inevitably many of the victims of domestic violence become homeless to escape the situation in which they live». Its coordinator Sónia Pinto was present to present the work of this association.

“We hope to have contributed to helping to demystify the issue of Domestic Violence, which is a scourge of our times”, as well as “to help an association that needs so much, which until recently survived only from volunteer work, as it is our duty as citizens it is helping to create a better society», emphasize the CDS Women in a statement.
