Navy helps University of Algarve in oceanographic measurement campaign

Campaign was «a success»

The Navy's rapid inspection boat “Cassiopeia” and a team from the University of Algarve participated this week in an oceanographic measurement campaign south of the island of Armona.

As explained by the Navy, the works were carried out using an autonomous submarine vehicle (AUV), which allows the reading of salinity and temperature data along the water column.

The AUV is capable of autonomous patrols, down to a depth of 100 meters, over several hours of operation.

The Navy says that the campaign was "a success", as it allowed "the collection of various data and the correction of errors that occurred in previous campaigns".
