MARF builds new warehouse for Chronopost

Investment in the new space amounts to 500 thousand euros

The Supply Market of the Region of Faro (MARF) will have, from June of next year, another warehouse, which will be used by Chronopost Portugal.

According to SIMAB – Sociedade Instaladora Mercados Abastecedores, this will be “a modern building, adapted to the new reality of logistics, and, at the same time, a versatile warehouse that can adapt to any activity, namely cold storage”.

According to the public company, which is the main shareholder of MARF, the new pavilion “should be completed and available in June of next year”.

SIMAB recalls that Chronopost "has been in Portugal since 1997, has about 750 employees, and presents itself as a "privileged partner of the business sector that wishes to benefit from the express delivery of goods throughout the national territory and in more than 230 countries" ».

The concession of this new space at MARF – where it was the first company to occupy a space, in 2003 – is justified by the «great growth of the operation» of this company in the Algarve region.

As for the investment by the SIMAB Group company in the construction of the property, which involves a construction area of around 3300 square meters, it is around one and a half million euros.

The operating income of “MARF, SA” rose in the first quarter of this year to 371,5 thousand euros, 8,5 thousand euros above budgeted and "practically in line with the same period last year".

The Budget Execution Report for the first quarter of this year explains that the “cash” operating income amounted to 361,9 thousand euros.
