The Algarve Football Association (AFA) congratulates Liga Portugal for choosing Portimão as the host city for the Iberian Cup, which kicks off this Friday, 19 July.
The first game is FC Porto – Betis de Sevilla (20h30). Tomorrow, Saturday, the 20th, Portimonense and Getafe will play. The final will be played on Sunday at 20:30.
The AFA welcomes the fact that this "great event" takes place in the south of the country, bringing together "some of the best teams in the Iberian Peninsula, in a demonstration of the vision and entrepreneurial capacity of its leader Pedro Proença and the entire team that leads, committed to the promotion and enhancement of professional football».
«The tournament is an important attraction for residents – who can witness a major event in their region, in a decentralizing action by the League, with a broad social reach – and also for thousands of tourists who are on vacation in the region during this period. », says the AFA.
The Algarve Football Association also emphasizes the commitment and collaboration of the Portimonense SAD affiliate, the region's only representative in the Liga NOS, and the Portimão City Council, which included the event in the European City of Sport's program, with an extensive thanks to Portimonense and various entities and partners.
