UAlg is going to Brazil and wants to bring students from there

Brazilian students demonstrate "a very significant interest" in coming to the Algarve university

The University of Algarve (UAlg) will make itself known in Brazil and try to recruit young Brazilians who will apply for Higher Education, during the event "Portugal 360", which will take place from today until Sunday at Cidade das Artes (Barra da Tijuca), in Rio de Janeiro.

The Algarve academy will be present for the second year in a row at this event, which will be attended by «several official bodies, large companies, businessmen, entrepreneurs, universities, schools and culture in general, to show what is best done in Portuguese lands», according to UAlg.

The representatives of the Algarve university will present the training news and «explain to visitors how it is to “Study where it is good to live”, addressing issues such as the cost of living, duration of courses and ways of access, among others».

UAlg recalled that «there has been a very significant interest on the part of Brazilian students», who see the region as a good place to continue their studies.

«The number of Brazilians enrolled in UAlg courses grew 40% in 2018/2019, representing more than half of foreign students and almost 10% of the total number of university degree students. There are already more than 700 Brazilian students attending initial training courses, master's and doctoral degrees. These were joined this year by more than 150 Brazilian students through mobility programs», according to the Algarve university.

UAlg's participation in this event is part of the project “Algarve is Our Campus – Study and Research in Algarve”, co-financed by the Algarve Regional Operational Program – CRESC Algarve 2020, through the Support System for Collective Actions – Internationalization, which has as aim to promote and reinforce the notoriety and attractiveness of the University of the Algarve and the Region, through the implementation of actions aimed at internationalization and the consequent increase in the number of international students, professors and researchers.

The “Portugal 360” program, an initiative organized by the Consulate General of Portugal in Rio de Janeiro and by Turismo de Portugal, includes lectures, workshops, courses and other activities in areas such as culture, entertainment, gastronomy, sport, education, business and tourism.
