Paulo Sá does not re-apply, Tiago Raposo is the head of the CDU list for the Legislatures

First public initiative with the new CDU list head is scheduled for 12 July, with the presence of Jerónimo de Sousa

Paulo Sá, deputy elected by the CDU in the constituency of Faro, will leave Parliament in the next legislature, returning to teaching at the University of Algarve. Tiago Raposo will replace Paulo Sá as the first candidate of the PCP-PEV coalition in the legislative elections.

Tiago Raposo is 35 years old, born and resident in the municipality of Silves, where he serves as political advisor to the CDU executive at the City Council.

The candidate was for several years, and until 2017, a commercial distributor. He was also director of the Tunis Sports and Cultural Association. Currently, he is also elected in the Parish Assembly of the União de Freguesias de Algoz e Tunes, and is also a member of the Board of the PCP's Algarve Regional Organization and its executive.

Paulo Sá, who will be the representative of the CDU list in the Algarve region, «will resume, 8 years after his first election to the Assembly of the Republic, his professional activity as a teacher and researcher at the University of Algarve, thus continuing the his academic career which he interrupted in 2011,” says the PCP, in a statement.

«With the disclosure of Tiago Raposo as the first candidate for the Algarve, the CDU continues a journey marked by work, honesty and competence expressed in a political intervention identified with the main struggles and aspirations of the Algarve», highlight the communists.

In the next legislative elections, the PCP's objective is to “strengthen its voting and consolidate the election of a deputy for the region, contributing not only to the defense of the interests, rights and aspirations of workers and populations in the Algarve, but also to give more strength to the struggle for a patriotic and left-wing policy that responds to the needs of the country».

The PCP considers that the strengthening of the CDU in the next elections, “will be a decisive condition not only to prevent the country from going backwards, but also to advance the rights and living conditions of workers and the Portuguese people, as has been proven in the last 4 years old".

The first public initiative with Tiago Raposo is scheduled for July 12, in Faro, next to the departure pier for the barrier islands, at 18:30 pm. This moment will count with the participation of the regional representative and of Jerónimo de Sousa, general secretary of the PCP.

In the next month of July, the rendering of accounts of the work developed by the Parliamentary Group of the PCP in the region will take place. In August, the CDU list will be presented and, at the beginning of September, the Electoral Commitment with the CDU's proposals for the Algarve will be released.
