The Bar of Faro/Olhão was reopened this Thursday night, after having been closed due to the sinking of the dredger “Caimão”, of the Sofaeia company.
Cortes Lopes, captain of the Port of Faro, told the Sul Informação that "yesterday, around 18:00, the Maritime Police divers visually confirmed the exact location of the dredger, at a depth of 26 meters, approximately in the same area where its sinking was seen, so the bar was opened last night".
The divers also verified that the dredger is within the jurisdiction of the Port of Olhão Captaincy, which is therefore responsible for the process.
However, it will have to be the Sofaeia company, which will be notified today, to present the dredger removal plan and pay a deposit.
In February last year, the dredger “Brasinho”, also from the Sofaeia company, turned over in Barra da Armona. The vessel was returned to the correct position, but it was never removed from the site.
