An arraial de São João, with sardines and marches, celebrates the Municipal Holiday of Almodôvar on Sunday, June 23, from 18:00.
The holiday is only marked on Monday, the 24th, but this festival takes place a day earlier.
The initiative includes the already traditional sardine, participation of Popular Poets, Parade of Popular Marches, with the participation of the March of the Almovimento Association, March of the Senior University of Almodôvar, Popular March of Bordeira and the March of São Barnabé.
There will also be the usual Desafio do Pau Ensebado, the traditional São João bonfire and a ball late into the night with the musician Rúben Filipe.
The Arraial de São João takes place at Jardim dos Bombeiros, in Almodôvar. Entries are free.
With this initiative, the City Council of Almodôvar says that “it intends to liven up the night of São João, the eve of the Municipal Holiday, providing everyone with a night of socializing between neighbors, friends and visitors, and stimulating opportunities for our local groups to demonstrate their capabilities cultural aspects of our county».
