Three thousand people traveled through a “sea” of culture in Places of Globalization

Event reached Aljezur, Lagos, Monchique, Silves and Vila do Bispo

About three thousand people enjoyed the program from Cultural Week Places of Globalization, which ended on the 19th and took initiatives to Aljezur, Lagos, Monchique, Silves and Vila do Bispo.

This was the second of three editions of this event organized by Vicentina – Southwest Development Association, which is inspired by the candidacy with the same name inscribed on the indicative list to UNESCO. This time, the prominent place was given to Cape Verde.

Over the course of a week – and in the first moment of the initiative, on May 5th – «residents, visitors and tourists had access to a cultural and knowledge program, around music, words and gastronomy», according to Vicentina .

Dino D'Santiago, Nancy Vieira, the debut of the original project Batuko Sta in Moda, the cine-musical performance «Who is in charge here is me!», by Tiago Pereira and his project Portuguese Music to Like Its Own, videomapping, a lecture, a showcooking and the inauguration of a sculpture were some of the highlights of the wind.

«Cape Verde, o Lugar em Destaque, was a reference in the construction of the cultural program. But not just Cape Verde; the program also took into account the “Places” connecting the Azores and Madeira, also including references to the regions (through music, words and gastronomy)», according to the organisation.

After the 2nd edition, Vicentina is already thinking about the third edition, «which will continue to focus on recognizing the value of the historical and cultural dimension and the cultural heritage of the “Places” that make up the “Places of Globalization”».
