Extended application deadline for Social Innovation projects in the Algarve

The Partnerships for the Impact of Portugal Inovação Social competition provides 2,5 million euros to support projects

The application deadline for projects in the Partnerships for the Impact of Portugal Social Innovation contest for the Algarve was extended until 6 June.

Launched last February, the contest Partnerships for the Impact of Portugal Social Innovation provides 2,5 million euros to support projects that test, develop or expand innovative solutions, complementary to traditional ones, to solve or mitigate social problems in the areas of education, employment, health, justice, social inclusion or citizenship in the Algarve region.

This is the second Partnerships for Impact competition that Portugal Inovação Social has opened for the Algarve region since last year.

Poet Felisbela Bartolomeu has a passion: declaiming poetry. This lady, resident in the Algarve mountains, in the municipality of Loulé, develops this activity without any recourse to paper, always working from her memory to fill her “small large audiences” with verse.

Felisbela is an excellent example of what the Café Interior – Café Therapeutic project, one of the projects financed by the first Partnerships for the Impact of Portugal Social Innovation competition, launched in 2018, intends to work.

Café Interior presents itself as a mobile resource, consisting of a multidisciplinary team that works in the areas of cognitive stimulation, inclusion through art and sharing of traditions, promoting social, psychological and physical well-being, social and the quality of life of the senior population residing in rural areas.

In addition to Café Interior – Café Therapeutic, eight other projects are also receiving public funding through Portugal Inovação Social, totaling 1,4 million euros.

In this second Partnerships for Impact contest, 2,5 million euros are now available.

“Partnerships for Impact” is a financing instrument managed by Portugal Inovação Social that guarantees the financing of up to 70% of the total cost of a project, with one or more social investors – public or private – having to support the remaining 30%.

CRESC Algarve 2020 has reserved an allocation of 2,5 million euros, with the public contribution of eligible expenditure being shared by the European Social Fund – ESF (80%).

Applications must be submitted at Balcão 2020 by 18 pm on June 00th.
