Parises is already a “Safe Village”

City Hall extended the program “Sacred Village, Safe People” to Parises

The program “Aldeia Segura, Pessoas Seguras” arrived in Parises, in the heart of the Serra do Caldeirão, in the municipality of São Brás de Alportel, on May 11th.

The Municipal Civil Protection Service of São Brás de Alportel promoted an awareness and simulation action in this location, with the objective of «testing the readiness of the rural fire response device, the emergency procedures and evacuation of the population, as well as training and the articulation between the various Civil Protection Agents and the Local Security Officers».

This exercise also allowed "to test the preventive evacuation of this rural village in the municipality of São Brás de Alportel", namely "the evacuation routes and the operationalization of the duly identified shelter site".

The simulation involved the participation of about two dozen operationals, including members of the Municipal Civil Protection Service, Municipal Social Services, Fire Brigade, GNR and Parish Council.

This is the second São Brasense village in which the national program “Aldeia Segura, Pessoas Seguras” has been “completely implemented”. The first was Cabeça do Velho which, like Parises, was one of the places most affected by the fire in Catraia, which devastated the Serra do Caldeirão in 2012.

"With these initiatives, the municipality of São Brás de Alportel intends to test the organization and capacity to respond to emergencies of this type, in order to identify opportunities for improvement in the face of existing risks, testing the procedures and evacuation plans implemented", he summarized the chamber.
