The Chamber of Olhão will promote a program of «intense entertainment activities for all audiences» in the months of June, July and August, thinking of the people of Olhão and those who visit the municipality during the summer.
The municipality promises that, "among consolidated events and news, many will be the reasons to go out into the street."
On the first weekend of June, on the 1st and 2nd, the Marim Environmental Education Center, the headquarters of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, receives the 2nd edition of Ecofest, an event that celebrates the environmental, cultural and musical, promoting various initiatives for all tastes and audiences, in contact with nature.
From the 4th to the 7th of June, the Children and Environment Week will return to Jardim Pescador Olhanense, this year under the theme “Knowing the Past to Preserve the Future”, which brings together more than three thousand children from public and private schools. county.
This is followed by the Festas da Cidade, whose highlight will be a concert by Mariza, scheduled for the night of June 16, at Jardim Pescador Olhanense.
Even so, the party will start some time earlier, more precisely on the 12th, with the historical recreation “The Day in which Olhão faced Napoleão”, which for two days, will pass through all the parishes.
O Pé na Terra Festival, which takes place between the 13th and 16th of June, in the Zona Ribeirinha da Fuzeta, is another of the initiatives included in the Dia da Cidade program.
On the 6th of July, another Ria Formosa Folklore Festival takes place, and from the 13th to the 20th of July, there is a festival of books and reading at Jardim Patrão Joaquim Lopes, with the 3rd edition of FLO – Book Fair of Olhão .
Another event that is already part of the annual summer program of the municipality of Olhão is the Pirata festival, which will take place from 1 to 4 August, in the city's riverside area. This event has moments of animation, historical recreation, performing arts, scrimmages, stories and circus arts.
From the 9th to the 14th of August, the Seafood Festival, «the biggest gastronomic event in the south of the country» and the highlight of the summer program of the city council, returns to Jardim Pescador Olhanense.
This year, the musical animation by Matias Damásio ft. Aurea (9), HMB (10), the tribute band to Queen Killer Queen (11), Paula Fernandes (12), Ludmilla (13) and Resistance (14). In the 2019 edition, the animation ends later in the first and last days of the event, with the performance of DJs Christian F and Wilson Honrado, respectively.
The summer entertainment program ends with the Levante Nights which, over three days, «will surprise the public with moments of great entertainment, with street art, music, theater and dance, which pass through Avenida da República, Rua do Comércio, neighborhoods of Barreta and Levante, Avenida 5 de Outubro, and ended next to the Markets», concluded the Chamber of Olhão.
