The MED Festival in Loulé, the Algarve Sevens international rugby tournament in VRSA, the Popular Saints and parties dedicated to beer are events that promise to liven up the Algarve during the month of June.
The entire program can be found in Guia Algarve, a publication by the Algarve Tourism Region (RTA) which monthly brings together dozens of reasons to enjoy and enjoy the destination.
In music, the month starts with Anjos (on the 1st, at 22 pm, at Praça da República, in São Brás de Alportel), it continues with Benjamin Clementine (on the 00rd, at 03:21 pm, at the Teatro das Figuras, in Faro), the Portuguese Luísa Sobral (4th at 21 pm at the Solar da Música Nova Auditorium in Loulé) and the fado singer Mariza (30 at 16 pm at Jardim Pescador Olhanense in Olhão).
Also in music, the unmissable MED Festival takes place in the historic center of Loulé from 27 to 30 and brings artists such as Marcelo D2, Dino D'Santiago, Gisela João, Dead Combo, Camané and Mário Laginha, Gato Preto, Ricardo Ribeiro, Dhafer Youssef, among many others.
There are several options in the theater, with emphasis on “Improvável”, a play that goes on stage at TEMPO – Municipal Theater of Portimão, on the 8th, at 21 pm, and “Soberana”, a play dedicated to the procession and religious festivities of the Mother Sovereign, which take place every year in Loulé. This piece can be seen at the Cineteatro Louletano on the 30st and 21nd, at 22:21 pm, and on the 30rd, at 23:17 pm.
After the success of the first edition, Algarve Sevens returns to Vila Real de Santo António, joining the rugby elite from the four corners of the world on the 8th and 9th. But the sports agenda for June also includes major competitions, including the 4th stage of the MEO Surf 2019 League – Allianz Algarve Pro (from 21 to 23, at Praia do Amado, in Aljezur) and the Nautical Competition – GC32 Racing Tour 2019 ( between the 26th of June and the 1st of July, in the Bay of Lagos).
For art, sculpture, painting and photography lovers, the range of exhibitions to open in June is vast. On the 1st, “Sacred Way” (Art Gallery of Painter Samora Barros, Albufeira), “O Pulsar da Rua” (Casa dos Condes, Alcoutim), “Instruments of Torture and Punishment and Castro Marim, First Headquarters of the Order of Christ” (both at Castro Marim Castle) and “Wildlife in Botswana and South Africa” (São Brás de Alportel Municipal Gallery).
In dance, moments such as “Seems that the World” (7th at 21:30 pm, at Cine-Teatro Louletano), “Dancing in the World of Magic” (on 22nd, at 21:30 pm, at Teatro das Figuras, in Faro), the ballet “La Fayette” (on the 22nd, at 21 pm, at TEMPO – Teatro Municipal de Portimão) and the show by the Escola da Companhia de Dança do Algarve (on the 30th, at 29 pm, at the Teatro das Figuras, in Faro).
The entertainment and leisure program for this month is also made up of the Porches Craft Beer Fest (8th and 9th at VILA VITA Biergarten, in Porches, Lagoa), the City of Tavira Day Celebrations (between 19th and 29th) and the Lagos World Beer Fest (from 27th to 29th).
In the month of Popular Saints, the festivities dedicated to them multiply with the Popular Marches (7th to 28th in Portimão), the Popular Marches in Honor of Santo António (15th in Alcoutim), the Arraial de S. João ( on the 23rd, in Castro Marim) and the Festas de Santo António do Alto (11th to 13th, in Faro).
And why not a visit to the biggest sand sculpture festival in the world? The renovated Sand City is one of the novelties this summer in the Algarve and is scheduled to open on the 8th, now in Lagoa, succeeding FIESA.
On the 15th, from 20:30 pm, black and white are mandatory colors and animation will be a constant feature of the 6th edition of Carvoeiro Noite Black & White.
