Popular Marches fill Portimão with color, music and animation

800th edition of the Popular Marches of Portimão will bring together around XNUMX participants

Lots of color, music, animation and, of course, the little bow and the balloon. The Popular Marches go back to the streets in Portimão, on the 7th, 14th, 21st and 18th of June, always at 21 pm.

«The animation guided by the famous parades with hundreds of marchers from four communities in Portimão will evoke the tradition of nights full of brightness, color, music, dance, creativity and emotion», says the Câmara de Portimão.

The XNUMXth edition of Popular Marches, with the theme “Long live the Marches!”, promises to delight residents and tourists and return to the streets in the three parishes of the municipality for the traditional parades, which this year have the participation of four communities in the municipality, the Sporting Glória Or Morte Portimonense, CIRM – Clube de Instrução e Recreio Mexilhoeirense, Sociedade Recreativa Figueirense and Marcha da Vila de Alvor.

«This year, the Children's March of Lar da Criança will also participate with dozens of children who, since the month of April, have been preparing for the scheduled parades. The associative movement will be en masse to celebrate the marches in the county, an event that has a huge popular support and that are seen by thousands of people», refers the municipality.

Neighborhood spirit will not be lacking and Portimão invited four marches from neighboring municipalities to be announced shortly.

This year, the novelty is the location of the first fashion show that will take place at Portimão Arena, on the 7th of June.

The second parade will be on the 14th of June, at 21 pm where the marchers will parade in the Alvor Riverside Zone and in the picturesque streets of the village. This is a parade on the edge of the Ria that brings together hundreds of people eager for the unique energy of the shouts of “Ié, Ié, Ié” and “Our march is beautiful”.

On the 21st, at 21 pm, it is the turn of the third parade of the Popular Marches at the Polidesportivo da Figueira, in the parish of Mexilhoeira Grande.

This is a space where the local community comes together to fulfill tradition with the exhibition of parades where the shine of the marchers' costumes shines.

The culmination of this great party will be on the 28th of June, at Praia da Rocha, with the route along Avenida Tomás Cabreira, starting at the Miradouro, passing by Avenida Tomás Cabreira towards the Fortaleza de Santa Catarina and ending at the Marina de Portimão with a choreography that will do justice to the work done in the last six months.

The 800th edition of the Popular Marches of Portimão will bring together around XNUMX participants, including marchers, choreographers and costume designers, who wear the spirit of associations and give free rein to the imagination and popular spirit, evoking various themes linked to the sociocultural heritage and traditions of the Algarve.

Alongside the parades, the music will echo through the streets, with the following songs being recorded as of now: “Football”, by the Infantile March of Lar da Criança, “Regiões”, by the Marcha da Sociedade Recreativa Figueirense, “Bairros de Mastro”, by the Marcha da Vila de Alvor, “Mexilhoeira Grande, Uma Casa Portuguesa”, by the March of the Clube de Instrução e Recreio Mexilhoeirense (CIRM) and “Piratas”, by the March of Sporting Glória or Morte Portimonense.

This initiative is organized by the Municipality of Portimão in conjunction with the Parish of Portimão, the Parish of Alvor and the Parish of Mexilhoeira Grande.
