The territory, architecture and people. This is the triad that serves as the motto for another show of “Lavrar o Mar”. 22 acrobats make up the cast of “Les Voyages”, a kind of contemporary circus that will take place outdoors, far from a tent. It will be this weekend, 4th and 5th of May, in Aljezur and Monchique, with free entry.

In March, a small group from the company “XY”, from Lille (France), came to the Algarve. During the days they were here, they visited the municipalities of Aljezur and Monchique, the two centers from “Lavrar o Mar”, to, with which they found him, to conceive “Les Voyages”.

“This is not going to be a normal show. This connection with the community is crucial for us, but it is also important that we can offer the perspectives of others on the territory, not only mine and Madalena's», framed Giacomo Scalisi, one of the programmers of “Lavrar o Mar” , to Sul Informação.

“Les Voyages” is, therefore, an acrobatic show that could only be performed in these two places: in Portinho da Arrifana (Aljezur), on Saturday, May 4th, at 18 pm, and in the village of Monchique, on Sunday. 00, at 5:16 pm.

Why? Because he appropriates space, using it as a starting point and one of the main characters in his action.

In both, there will be short routes, already defined, where the group of 22 acrobats will do their art.

«These are routes with places, people, but also music. At Portinho da Arrifana, there is a whole route that goes to the viewpoint, where the public will be surprised. In Monchique, the match will be at Largo dos Chorões and we will walk through the village», explained Giacomo.

Anyone who goes to see it, guarantees the cultural programmer, will also be invited to participate in acrobatics that can include, for example, climbing onto someone's back. Are there brave ones?

“Using body and balance, they manage to make these human constructions. What we want is also to pass this on to people, showing a message of strength and community. All together we are able to do what is impossible for us to achieve on our own,” Giacomo Scalisi told our newspaper.

But, the activities of this company of acrobats throughout the Algarve already started even before these two shows. Small presentations, which they called “protocols”, animated localities of Aljezur and Monchique, on the 1st and 2nd of May.

In one of them, in Odeceixe, that the Sul Informação followed, the artists walked around the village doing acrobatics, based on what they were seeing. They went up to the Mill, used the walls of the Church and greeted people passing through the streets with acrobatics.

Dona Adélia Maria was one of those targeted. Sitting at the door of her house, with an umbrella covering the sun, she was surprised by the acrobatic figures of the “XY. For a few minutes, she stared, marveling, and in the end she confessed that she liked the surprise.

“Then I shouldn't have liked it? Many foreigners pass by here, who take pictures of me, but this was a good surprise. I'll even tell my son, who lives in Arrifana, about this», he confessed, smiling, to the Sul Informação.

With these “protocols”, small artistic notes, there was also a promotion of the two biggest shows this weekend. It's just that Giacomo Scalisi was always distributing postcards, to people he was meeting, about both exhibitions, in Portinho da Arrifana and in Monchique.

For these, Sergi Parès, one of the acrobats of “XY”, confessed to our newspaper that the objective is “to gather as many people as possible”. “The idea is to invite people to join us. Our work is, at heart, a human and poetic approach to physical contact and acrobatics», he explained.

This time, there is a big news for this “Lavrar o Mar” show: entries are free.

Given the rush for tickets, which is so common, "we decided to give this gift to our fans," concluded Giacomo Scalisi, chuckling.
