FLIQ has already started and will pay «a fair tribute» to Nuno Júdice

Tribute to the writer from Portimo will be the highlight of the 4th edition of the Querença International Literary Festival

Portimonian poet and writer Nuno Júdice will be honored in another edition of the Querença International Literary Festival (FLIQ), which began today, Friday, and will last until Sunday.

The also essayist and professor, «one of the most significant poetic voices in Portuguese literature since the 70s», will have a whole day dedicated to him, in this edition of FLIQ, more precisely, tomorrow.

This Saturday, at 15:30 pm, the tribute initiatives will begin, the first of which is the conference “Nuno Júdice: A fair tribute from Fliq”, given by Guilherme D'Oliveira Martins, former minister and current administrator of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

This will be followed, at 15:45 pm, by the colloquium “Geografias da Poesia”, which will bring together around the same table Catherine Dumas, teacher and translator, Egídia Souto, teacher and researcher, José Manuel de Vasconcelos, poet and translator, Luís Filipe de Castro Mendes , poet and diplomat, Maria Fernanda de Abreu, professor and essayist, and Teresa de Almeida, professor and researcher. The moderation will be in charge of journalist Ana de Sousa Dias.

This was followed by the initiative “Leituras de Primavera”, by Cidália Bicho and João Espada (17:15 pm), the inauguration of the exhibition “The image of the poem: 50 years of literary life by Nuno Júdice” (17:45 pm), the presentation of the video clip “Um Poema de Amor” (18:15) and a concert with Custódio Castelo (21:00).

Today, the festival was attended by the Minister of Justice Francisca Van Dunem, who gave an open class to the population, «similarly to what happened 30 years ago in the “Free General Studies” (EGL), promoted by the anthropologist Manuel Viegas Guerreiro and by the philosopher Agostinho da Silva», explains the Manuel Viegas Guerreiro Foundation, organizer of FLIQ.

A round table entitled “Free General Studies in the XNUMXth century XXI”, the launch of a book by Francisco Melo Ferreira and the screening of a documentary about EGL, with interventions by José Barata Moura, Viriato Soromenho-Marques, António Borges Coelho, Fernando Mão de Ferro, Joaquim Cerqueira Gonçalves, Cláudio Torres and Teresa Rita Lopes were also part of today's program.

At 21 pm, there is a concert by Solaris.

On the last day, Sunday, the sub-theme “Books, Readings & Readers” points to the issues of reading habits, the creation of new readers and the importance of children's literature, bringing dozens of researchers, writers, teachers to the village of Querença , librarians and interested in the Word and the Book as the maximum expression of Citizenship and Freedom.

There will be, on a permanent basis, a Book Fair, with representation of works by the present authors, music, readings, exhibitions, autograph sessions, picnics, socializing and various dialogues.

The Festival has the support of the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve, the Municipality of Loulé and the Union of Parishes of Querença, Tôr and Benafim. Since 2017, RDP/RTP have been FLIQ's media partners.
