The duo made up of Fernando Peres and José Pedro Silva was the winner of the Alcoutim Rally, which took place this weekend. The third race of the Southern Rally Championship took place on a track around Martim Longo, with three specials covered twice.
Fernando Peres and José Pedro Silva were the great dominators of the rally, winning all the qualifying specials, and guaranteed the first victory of the season.
In second place were champions Márcio Marreiros and Rui Serra, "who suffered the usual constraints of opening the road and also some mechanical mishaps in the first part of the rally, which turned out to be a satisfactory result", explains the Portuguese Federation of Automobile and Karting (FPAK).
The second place on the podium was helped by the abandonment of Carlos Martins, in the 2nd special, and Paulo Santos, in the Assistance Park, with problems in their vehicles, when they occupied places on the podium.
Ricardo Filipe and Fernando Almeida (Carisma GT) had a steady pace and took 3rd place, closing the podium.
Pedro Leone and Bruno Ramos returned to good results, taking the Ford Escort Cosworth to 4th place.
In the two drive wheels, João Monteiro and Gonçalo Assunção were the best. The duo had an "animated fight" with Filipe Silva and Diogo Elias, but the Saxo driver retired at PE5, leaving the way open for the Toyota Corolla GTi team.
Júlio Inácio and Ricardo Mestre finished in 6th position, ahead of Nuno Silva and Dário Martins, who were the winners of Class P2-3.
Soon after, in the classification, appear Paulo Anselmo and Eduardo Gonçalves who participated in a Peugeot 206 GTI, and won the P1-2 class.
Debutants in these matches, Rui Rijo and João Borrega won the X3-13 class in the BMW 325 IX, taking 8th place. Pedro Franco and Victor Sousa, in Ford Escort MkI, and Jaime Falcão with André Silva, in Mazda 323, closed the Top-10.
The Southern Rally Championship goes to Monchique, which will take place on the 8th and 9th of June.
The Clube Automóvel do Algarve is already preparing the Rally Casinos do Algarve, which closes the season for the national and regional championship calendars.
Alcoutim Rally was organized by the Clube Automóvel do Algarve, under the aegis of the Portuguese Federation of Automobile and Karting, with the support of the Municipality of Alcoutim and the Parish Councils of Martim Longo and Vaqueiros, and also sponsored by Solverde – Casinos and Hotels, Algarve Wines and Acrimold.
