Faro throw a party to celebrate Museum Day

Party takes place at the Municipal Museum of Faro and at the Algarve Regional Museum

Faro is going to throw a party that will last into the night to celebrate International Museum Day, on Saturday, the 18th.

On that day, the entrance to the Municipal Museum of Faro it will be free of charge and the doors of this cultural space open early, so that anyone interested can have the opportunity to visit the Roman mosaic of the God Ocean, one year after its classification as a National Treasure, or the exhibition by Carlos Porfírio, which brings together unknown works by this artist from Faro to those of Almada Negreiros, Santa Rita Pintor and Eduardo Viana.

At the Algarve Regional Museum, in the building of the Algarve's Regional Development Coordination Commission (CCDR), the activity for families “Playing with flowers” ​​will take place from 14 pm onwards, in which interested parties can register by contacting 30 .

This will also be followed, also at the Regional Museum, by the performance of the F3 Group “Mosaico Musical”, which will provide a concert of recorders, at 15:30 pm, and the performance of accordionists from Bordeaux Pedro Ramos and Inês Faria, at 16:30 pm.

The celebrations will continue at the Municipal Museum, at 18 pm, with a session of “Cataplay”, a tasting show of the Algarve cataplana, performed by Tânia Silva and Mário Spencer, followed, at 00 pm, with a musical performance with the great pianist Armando Mota. Both shows are part of the 19 Algarve Program and have paid entry and limited enrollment.

At 21 pm, Kilavra performs, a local project that brings together poetry and electronic music. «It will follow, at 30 pm, the concert with the talented Russian vocalist and violinist “Ian”, in a beautiful spectacle of light, image and sound in the museum's cloisters», according to the Chamber of Faro.

This performer has in her curriculum collaborations with the Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto, with the GNR and, currently, with The Gift.

The night ends with Mofo, «famous for their parties, where the joy, good mood and music from other decades will delight everyone present».

All these shows have free entry.

This initiative brings together restaurants in the historic center that symbolically joined the event, promoting a special price on their menu or creating a dedicated menu, in homage to the city's museums and cultural heritage.
