Luságua won the international public tender for the concession of urban cleaning and waste collection services in Albufeira and «will introduce several novelties in the provision of the service», announced the company.
The contract signed between the Municipality of Albufeira and the new concessionaire covers services such as the collection and transport of waste, urban cleaning, washing, disinfection and maintenance of equipment where waste is deposited, collection and transport of containers, collection of animals and surveillance of ecocentres.
«After a test phase, the operation is already taking place in a stabilized manner, involving around 130 operators and 40 small, medium and large equipment. This situation will be reinforced shortly, taking into account the process of hiring another 18 employees that is underway. Luságua also advanced with the acquisition of new vehicles and equipment», according to the company.
Innovative Geographic Information and Planning techniques will also be introduced, «allowing the optimization of routes». Another novelty is the service inspection technician “who will be an essential element in solving any problems and in suggesting service improvement”.
Luságua should «collect more than 150 tonnes of waste daily, and in August it is expected to reach 220 tonnes/day».
