The Ecofest 2019 will take place in Pinheiros de Marim, in the middle of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, on the 1st and 2nd of June, organized by the Municipality of Olhão. The event, which celebrates the environmental, cultural and musical heritage, promoting various initiatives in contact with nature, offers, during the first weekend of June, activities for all tastes and audiences.
According to the Municipality of Olhão, «this is a festival that promotes harmonious contact with nature and culture, with a varied artistic and environmental program, ranging from music for children to tango and fado, passing through magic, walking routes, observation of birds or chameleons, release of birds, dances of the world, stories or poetry».
The first day of Ecofest, June 1st, begins with magic and stories by Angel Deval at Nora, from 10:00 am, followed by João Violão's performance, with music for children, which will also be present at 15:00 pm, at Snack Stage.
At the RIAS – Ria Formosa Wildlife Recovery and Research Center, bird feeders will be built in the morning, while at 14 pm there will be an activity for children called “The Mysteries of the Feathers” and chameleons will be observed at night.
At Picnic Park, “There is a Museum in the Park” from 12:00 pm and the Moinho de Maré receives “Two to Tango” – Tribute to Astor Piazolla, at 12:00 pm and 16:00 pm. At the Pico de Merendas, from 17 pm, there will be music from around the world with Trio Kilôco.
On the second day of Ecofest, June 2, between 09:00 am and 11:00 am, there will be bird watching at RIAS, and then (11:00 am), Nora receives the “History of Joaninha Ecológica” by Casa João Lúcio. At 12:00, at the Picnic Stage, “Há Museu no Parque” (for families) and at Moinho de Maré, poetry and electronic music arrive with the Kilavra.
The afternoon begins with events dedicated to the little ones who, at the RIAS, will find out if “There are Chameleons on the Quinta?”, while on the Picnic Stage Angel Deval presents magic and stories, both at 14 pm. On this same stage, at 00:15 pm, traditional music arrives with Fole'Percussion, fado singer Sara Gonçalves performs at Moinho de Maré at 00:16 pm, while at 00:17 pm the entertainment returns to Palco de Merendas with dances from around the world, by Laurent Geoffroy.
In addition to these initiatives by appointment, every day there will be the Ecofest Market (Parque de Merendas), Catx (environmental music at Moinho de Maré), donkey rides (Nora) and animals will be released at the RIAS.
Face paintings, children's animation or digital caricatures will also be part of this weekend that celebrates the environment in the Ria Formosa Natural Park.
This initiative has the collaboration of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, the Institute for the Conservation of Nature and Forests and parish councils of Olhão and Quelfes, among other entities.
