“It's for boys and girls” addresses gender issues at Cine-Teatro Louletano

The show is free, training is paid

The theater show “É pro Menino e Prá Menina”, a staging by Catarina Requeijo, in the absolute premiere in the South of the country of this artistic creation, of which Cine-Teatro Louletano is one of the co-producers, will be presented on the 20th and 21st de Maio, in that room in Loulé, in sessions for schools and a workshop for educators, mediators and other artists interested in creation aimed at children.

“Do girls like pink, play with dolls and dance ballet? Do boys like blue, play with toy cars and play football? Or do girls play football and boys play with dolls? What can girls do that boys can't? What do they want to be (and can be) when they grow up?”.

These and other questions posed to the children, as well as their answers, hesitations and also their silences, were the starting point for the construction of the show to be presented in Loulé.

On stage, a man and a woman will embody various situations and different characters. To the top of the stage, it takes the issues of Gender, trying to question stereotypes, removing labels and leaving the viewer with many, many doubts.

It is a commission by São Luiz Teatro Municipal, in co-production with Formiga Atómica Associação Cultural, Vila Flor Cultural Center, Ovar Art Center and Cine-Teatro Louletano.

The show, with free entry, is aimed at children between 3 and 6 years of age and has an estimated duration of 30 minutes.

The training, with an estimated duration of three hours (from 18:00 pm to 21:00 pm), costs 5 euros per person. This requires limited prior registration, to be done by email [email protected] or by calling 289414604.
