Seized a ton of octopus that fled the auction in Olhão

Octopus with dimensions smaller than the one allowed by law was also found.

A ton of octopus that did not pass through the auction was seized on Tuesday by the Coastal Control Unit (UCC) of Olhão of the GNR, in this city.

Specimens of common octopus that were not "subject to the first sale regime at auction (escape from auction)", some of which "did not have the minimum weight required by law for their capture and sale, ie, 750 grams", were found in a warehouse by the UCC military.

«The responsible company was identified and the respective notice was prepared for administrative offenses for fleeing the auction and for capturing specimens smaller than the fixed size, and for these two infractions, fines of a maximum value of 44.891 euros and 37.500 euros may be applied euros, respectively.

The GNR made a point of reminding "that the first sale of all fresh fish is obligatorily carried out at auction and fish whose sizes are below the fixed minimum sizes must be immediately returned to the sea".
