Algarve Design Meeting will have an open-air cinema, decorated windows and videomapping

Event is international

Seminars, exhibitions, themed workshops, decorated windows, outdoor cinema and videomapping. This will be another edition of the Algarve Design Meeting, to be held from 21 to 25 May, at Fábrica da Cerveja, in Faro.

This international event aims to promote the areas of Design and Audiovisuals, in all their forms of expression, meeting annually in the city of Faro, designers, brands, industry, researchers, companies and institutions.

In a space of about 2 thousand square meters, the 9th edition of the Algarve Design Meeting offers a series of seminars that count with the participation of several national and international speakers, who will share their experiences or present their projects.

In addition to the seminars, there will also be a space dedicated to the exhibition and sale of products, as well as exhibitions, thematic workshops and open-air cinema.

In this edition of the Algarve Design Meeting, a new concept debuts, the “Montra Project”, which aims to contribute to the promotion and revitalization of the Baixa de Faro through multidisciplinary design interventions carried out by Communication Design students in the windows of relevant commercial spaces in Rua de Santo António and Rua D. Francisco Gomes. This initiative has the support of the Parish Union of Faro.

On the 24th and 25th of May, between 14:30 pm and 18:00 pm, there will be space for several conferences that will meet in Faro renowned names in the various areas of Design and Audiovisuals.

On the 24th, names such as: Miguel Pires (NERVO – Brand Entertainment To Create An Entertaining Brand) stand out; Ana Lima and Sandrina Teixeira (ISCAP – Content Design and Marketing); Jimmy Millan (How to live by Art without dying in the attempt); Pedro Serapicos (Authorship and Design – Between Wonderbly – UK and PSST – PT) and Alexandra Santos (Design for a culture in a globalized world).

On the 25th, it will be the turn of Ricardo Lopes (Grés, Porcelain and Terracotta: Journeys of a Potter in the East); Pablo Ocqueteau and Philine von Düszeln (Mapuguaquén); Bárbara Pintar and Jordi Sabat (Followbirds); Ricardo Henriques (Designer at Google, Silicon Valley, Experiences that help us); João Miranda (Big Kitchen – A Living Type Specimen), ending up with Silvadesigners (One word is worth a thousand images).

One of the highlights of the event will take place on the 25th, at 22 pm, on the façade of the Igreja da Sé de Faro, with the public presentation of the works of the 6th edition of the Videomapping Festival, carried out by students from the Communication Design and Animated Image courses at the University of Algarve and by students from other national and international educational institutions.

The initiative is organized by the Superior School of Education and Communication of the University of Algarve in partnership with the National Association of Designers (AND) and the Municipality of Faro.
