PCP wants Government action in case of precarious conditions at University of Algarve

At issue is the reluctance on the part of the UAlg rectory to launch a competition to integrate 30 precarious workers

The Parliamentary Group of the PCP wants to know what measures the Government intends to take to guarantee that the University of the Algarve launches competitions to definitively admit all general career workers with precarious links, namely if it intends to give more money to the institution.

Despite having approved the integration of 52 workers who perform functions corresponding to general careers, under the Program for the Extraordinary Regularization of Precarious Links in Public Administration (PREVPAP), the rectory of the Algarve university has only opened two public examinations so far and only undertook to do the same in another 20 cases.

«However, for the 30 workers who have science and technology management grants and research grants, and who perform administrative functions, the rectory of the University of Algarve claims that it does not have the budget to proceed with the opening of public tenders and subsequent hiring, the which calls into question the right of these workers to see their precarious ties regularized», framed the PCP.

Thus, the communists, through their deputy elected for the Algarve Paulo Sá and deputy Ana Mesquita, want the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education to clarify what it is doing «to guarantee the 30 scholarship holders of the general careers of the University of the Algarve, referred to above, the realization of the right to regularize their precarious links».

In particular, the PCP parliamentarians want to know if the Government intends to "proceed with the reinforcement of the Budget of the University of Algarve".
