More than 8 motorcycles celebrated National Motorcyclist Day in Albufeira

A high moment was the procession, followed by mass and the blessing of the bikes

More than eight thousand motorcycles were heard throughout the city of Albufeira, carrying the banners and flags of all participating clubs and groups of motorcyclists, during the celebrations of the National Motorcyclist Day, which took place on the weekend of 27 and 28th of April, in that Algarvian city.

One of the highlights of the party was the procession, on Sunday, which departed from the Transit Territorial Detachment of Albufeira,
accompanied by a Charanga on horseback from the GNR, towards Paços do Concelho, where the Solemn Mass took place.

In keeping with tradition, the ceremony included the blessing of motorcycles and helmets and a moment of tribute to all the riders who have already departed.

In the speeches, the mayors of Albufeira Town Council, José Carlos Rolo, and of the Motorcycling Federation of Portugal, Manuel Marinheiro, evoked the memory of Carlos Silva e Sousa, former mayor of the municipality, who participated and supported several initiatives related to the sport.

The leaders thanked the participants for their presence and wished them a safe return home.

During the weekend, the parking lots in front of the Paços do Concelho and Tribunal buildings were occupied with taverns for food and drinks and stands for exhibitions of promotional material related to motorcycling. The Largo Eng. Duarte Pacheco welcomed the participants, with concerts and lots of entertainment.
