Young players from big clubs rejoin in VRSA

Athletes from 16 countries will be present

2500 young footballers, representing 140 teams from 16 countries, will compete in the Algarve Youth Cup, between the 14th and 20th of April, at the Vila Real de Santo António Sports Complex (VRSA).

The opening ceremony of this event, which is going to the 3rd edition, is scheduled for Monday, the 15th, at 18:30 pm, and «promises a show full of sound, light and color that will kick off a week of social interaction. and sport at the highest level”, according to the Chamber of VRSA, which organizes the event.

This children's football world tournament will feature participants from 7 to 13 years old, some of whom line up for major national and international clubs. The young footballers will be divided into eight tiers – one football 5, five football 7 and two football 11.

The list of participating clubs includes names such as Benfica, Porto, Atlético Madrid, Seville FC, KRC Genk (Belgium), Feyenoord (Netherlands), Inter Milan (Italy), Dinamo Zagreb (Croatia), Burnley (England), Olympique Lyon (France), Olympiacos (Greece) and Rangers (Scotland).

For the first time, the tournament will feature teams from Estonia and India, which will be joined by an extensive delegation from the United States (6 teams) and Canada (12 teams).

 

 

«In the context of the Algarve, this is certainly one of the events with the largest number of participants involved and with the greatest impact in economic terms. In a single week, some of the best young players of today will be present, with all the conditions for great football moments being created», considered the municipality.

The economic impact of this event is guaranteed not only by the thousands of athletes, but also by their coaches and family members, who accompany them in many cases.

The qualifiers will start on April 15th and will last until the 19th, always between 8:30 am and 19:30 pm. The finals and prize giving will take place on the 20th, between 8:30 am and 20:00 pm.

With the exception of the opening ceremony, all games (including the finals) are free to enter.

Tickets for the opening ceremony are on sale at the reception desk of the municipal stadium and cost 8 euros (free entry for children under 3 years old).
