A new water point to supply aerial means Hortas and Moinho and the two new firefighting teams are the novelties of the Action Strategy for the Prevention of Rural Fires for 2019 of São Brás de Alportel, which was approved this week
The plan for this year is marked by «continuity» and «includes a diversified set of measures, such as the intense work of cleaning the shoulders and maintaining the Forest Road Network», according to the City Council of São Brás de Alportel.
At the same time, information and awareness campaigns will be promoted among the population, as well as clarification sessions and awareness-raising actions with rural communities, without forgetting the inspection actions in the field, which are «another fundamental axis of this strategy, which is proximity to the community is key”.
It was with the objective of being closer to the population that the São Brasense municipality carried out, in 2018, a survey of the mountain population and the georeferencing of housing, "which is constantly being updated".
This measure came to "strengthen the reaction capacity of Civil Protection in the protection of goods and people."
«In 2019, the activity of the Sapadores Florestais Team of the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel continues, the pre-positioning of a fire-fighting team from the Fire Department, the support of GNR SEPNA to ensure the operation of the Tower of Vigia da Menta, youth volunteer programs for the forests, partnerships with the Association of Forestry Producers of Serra do Caldeirão, with hunter associations, with Infrastructures of Portugal, Rede Elétrica Nacional and EDP, the Army's surveillance Portuguese and the execution of a protocol with the Army is also planned for the repair of the Forest Road network», added the City Council of São Brás de Alportel.
