Algarve had fewer Spanish, Portuguese and Irish tourists in March

Average overall occupancy rate per room was identical to March 2018

There were fewer Spanish (-37%), Portuguese (-15,7%) and Irish (-12,9%) tourists in the Algarve during the month of March, compared to the same period last year, according to data released by the Association of Hotels and Touristic Enterprises of the Algarve (AHETA).

As for the overall average occupancy rate per room, it was 53,7%, similar to the figure recorded in 2018 (-0,1%).

The French (+20,5%) and Swedish (+47,3%) markets were the ones that presented the biggest increases. Since the beginning of the year, the room occupancy rate has risen by an average of 0,5%

Also according to AHETA, sales volume decreased by 6,0% compared to the same month of the previous year.

In analyzing these data, it is important to mention that, in 2018, Easter took place in March.
