Around 20 thousand motorcycles will parade through the city of Albufeira next weekend, on the 27th and 28th of April, during the celebrations of the National Motorcyclist Day.
The reception of the participants is scheduled for the Largo Eng. Duarte Pacheco, on Saturday, at 21 pm, with musical entertainment. On Sunday, the highlight is the procession, at 00 pm, which culminates in a Solemn Mass at Largo dos Paços do Concelho.
This is the third time that the event, which aims to celebrate the choice of the motorcycle as a way of life, takes place in the south of the country.
On April 27, the eve of National Motorcyclist Day, the Municipality and Moto Clube de Albufeira welcome the participants, with a reception at Largo Eng. Duarte Pacheco, at 21 pm. Motorcyclists will have the opportunity to taste the local cuisine and watch the performance of the rock and blues band “Spitfire” and the Algarve artist Vítor Bacalhau.
On Sunday, the 28th, around 20 thousand motorcyclists will be able to watch the arrival of the Procession, which will depart at 14 pm from the Albufeira Transit Territorial Detachment. The procession will be accompanied by a GNR Horse Charanga, which opens the way to the São Rafael andor, patron of Motorcyclists and to the standard and flag bearers of all clubs and
groups of participating motorcyclists. The procession will pass through the Vale Pedras road, Rua dos Bombeiros Voluntários and
will end at the Town Hall.
At 15:00 pm, a Solemn Mass will take place at Largo dos Paços do Concelho, in front of the City Hall building, where they will be
the missing motorcyclists are remembered and honored.
In keeping with tradition, the ceremony will end with the blessing of motorcycles and helmets and with a closing speech by the mayor of Albufeira.
The entire area between the Rotundas Lidl, Rotunda dos Relógios and Albufeira Town Hall, occupying the two lanes
from Av. dos Descobrimentos, towards West-East and the two car parks will be reserved for
the event, between 12:00 and 17:00, so it will not be possible to circulate/park cars.
Traffic will normally circulate on Avenida dos Descobrimentos in the East-West direction. Who intends to circulate in the direction
conversely, you can do so by exiting at Rotunda do Lidl to Cerro do Malpique and passing behind the Town Hall building
Municipal.
