Teresa Aleixo releases first album «full of influences»

At the presentation concert at Club Farense, the entire album will be played and there will be «maybe a surprise»

Teresa Aleixo's first album, entitled “Quanto de Mim”, will be presented this Saturday, March 30, at Club Farense, at 22 pm.

Teresa Aleixo was born in Lisbon, but was the city of Faro who saw her grow up and start her journey in the world of music. At the age of 6, he began to play the piano and sing. At 14 he started playing guitar and drums and, at 16, he joined his first band pop: the Out of Buoy.

Since then, he has never stopped participating in musical projects and exploring new sounds. They all come together in this his first work.

“It's very difficult for me to put a musical label on this record. I consider it indie pop, but my influences culminated in a work that can pull both jazz, pop rock, or even the world music», says the artist to Musicália – Sul Informação.

With In-tento Trio, Teresa explored her more jazzy side. Later, passes by the Blues, in the first appearance of Blues a Sul – Algarve Blues Association. From adolescence comes a more pop influence. In Mundo Pardo he had contact with a calmer pop, with touches of world music. In OLudo, however, he found a whole lot more indie pop and, with João Cuña, he embraced Fado.

«All the projects I've worked on are guilty of this final result. But this is something that happens unconsciously. I managed to put it all together in a single album full of influences, in a great journey», reveals the singer.

“How much of me” took some time to see the light of day, but the song that gives it its name is already four years old. Among so many musical projects, she managed to explore her creative side as a composer and put her experiences and experiences in poetry.

However, six months of Erasmus in the Czech Republic delayed the album project, but did not put an end to it. On his return, he realized that he had more in his luggage and the process of recording the new material proved to be slow.

This is “hard and a little frustrating. You reach a point where so much time has passed since creation and recording that, in the mixing stage, we always want to change something because today I wouldn't sing like that, I wouldn't play like that. That's the problem with the disc creation process taking longer than we'd like. We are constantly growing, professional as well, listening to a lot that makes us want to create in a different way. It's frustrating because we want to see the final result, present it, and the more time passes, the more anxiety gets tighter».

But Teresa Aleixo looks at all this time and does not consider it lost or wasted. “If all this time hadn't gone by, I wouldn't have met some of the people I worked with in the final stages of photography, design, advertising or mastering. I couldn't bring in more people because I didn't. They're not there, but, in a way, the influences they gave me are on the record», he reveals.

The presentation of the album will be attended by many of the musicians participating in the album: Tércio Freire (guitar), Paulo Franco (drums), Pedro Batista (bass), Nuno Campos (keyboard) and guests Pedro Gil (electric guitar) , Leon Baldesberger (trumpet) and Bárbara Santos (cello).

Teresa Aleixo reveals that the presence of Bárbara, cellist from Riding a Meteor, gives “a fantastic addition” and adds that “the rehearsals are being very positive and we are very excited”.

"I could" was the theme chosen as single from the album and, curiously, “it started out as a fado, but then suffered a twist during that creative period”, reveals the singer.

Teresa Aleixo confesses that the song speaks, like many of her songs, “of experiences, of stories, which marked my path. And this one speaks of a situation that can happen to any of us».

Maria Miguel was the dancer chosen to flesh out the story.
